Elsewhere it is bordered by the other Indian states: Punjab to the north; Haryana and Uttar Pradesh to the northeast; Madhya Pradesh to the southeast; and Gujarat to the southwest. Rajasthan is an economically backward region of India and has the highest percentage of unemployed youth in North India.

“I belong to a Rajput family from the Shekhawati region of Rajasthan, which is famous for its rich culture but where water scarcity is a great hindrance. Agriculture, industries and unemployment is poor. My father was the only earning member in our family of six, and, needless to say, there were times during my childhood when we had nothing to eat.
One day my class teacher asked me for homework, which I could not do because I did not have a notebook.
